Does anyone know the results between these two teams this season??

I really want Packers to win, Rodgers will be close to winning MVP imo. He has been in outstanding form.

I can guarantee Rodgers won't win MVP.

Really don't care who wins this, guess Steelers because of the Pennsylvania connection and the fact we used to play as one team before we split.

as much as i dont want to admit it, philly is right...rodgers probably wont get mvp (even though i want him to). its going to be a very defensive superbowl, very low scoring and i think it will be a defensive mvp with either polamalu to have a blast or clay matthews/charles woodson for the packers.

What would another day matter? You go to school around 2 days a year.

I'll be taking off work for this. 100% going for the GB Packers. Cannot stand the Steelers although I did pick them to beat the Jets today.

PostSubject: Re: Superbowl XLV - Steelers vs Packers   Wed Jan 26, 2011 2:10 am

im obviously hoping for a steelers win but there are some good match ups for both teams.

Obviously the running game for the packers is gonna struggle. They havent had too much success all year on the ground game and against the best run defence in the league it wont get much better. That forces them to go to the air which they are quite good at. Last time the two teams met the score was 37-36 with the steelers getting up late in the game. Pretty sure Big Ben had a 500 yard passing game and rodgers was mid 300's.

The secondary for the steelers is pretty concerning with McFadden getting beat all year at CB. Ike Taylor will most likely get the job on Jennings and IMO he will do a good job. Also the extra two weeks should see Polamalu pretty much healthy and we all know how damagin he can be. The biggest concern for the packers IMO is the o-line. The steelers have some amazing linebackers that are quick and can get to the QB with ease. Knowing the quality of the Packers o-line i think we should expect a fair few Rodgers sacks. Also, Aarron Smith might be back from his injury that he had in the 5th game of the season (i think).

The Steelers offence will have to get it going with the run game. Rashard Mendenhall had a blinder against the leagues 3rd best run defence and i expect him to play a huge roll against the packers. The most damaging player on the packers defence would have to be Clay Matthews who is most likely going to get defensive player of the year. The steelers dodgy o-line will have to watch him coming on the outside blitzs or Big Ben could be in for a long day.

The packers secondary is pretty darn good. However they are still beatable. The steeler constantly been using 5 reciver sets to spread the secondary and it has been working (eg Steelers v Ravens long pass to Antonio Brown to set up 1st and goal). Expect Mike Wallace to take more post routes and for Ward just to lay some ppl out!

Lastly the QB's. Both are VERY mobile. However, both hold on to the ball too long with the hope of making a big play. Rodgers may have some trouble if he doesnt release it early with Woodley and Harrison both playing with some great intensity lately. But Rodgers does have the ability to make huge yards on the ground so expect Farrior to cover spying him. Big Ben has been dealing with his average o-line all year and has done pretty well against the Jets and Ravens as of late. However, he has to be aware of Clay Matthews. Bens scrambling out of the pocket might land him straight into Matthews arms. I am thinking that the experience of Ben for this one gives him a slight advantage (call me biased all you want). He has been there and done that twice already so he knows what to expect whereas Rodgers is now the new kid on the block.

I reckon we are gonna see a nice tight game here. Very evenly matched across the board but im hoping the steelers can get up in Dallas. My prediction Steelers 27 - Packers 20

dude nice write up. i agree that big bens experience has one up on rodgers which could be the difference though rodgers has done well to get where he is. pretty much on the ball mate except for one thing....a green bay win :p
