PostSubject: NFL Off Season    Wed Jun 08, 2011 11:37 pm

Just a thread to talk about the little things happening in the league whilst it is off season.

newest news so far is that Plaixo Burress is out of jail and looking for a team. For those dont remember he went to jail for having an unregistered gun that he accidentley fired into his leg while at a night club. he was sentenced to 20 months jail.

burress is an amazing wide out but a little to cocky like most good wide outs. he was originally drafted by the steelers but was traded to the giants where he took the super bowl winning catch against the patriots in their undefeated season.

so where do you see him landing? vick wants him at the eagles and i think thats a pretty darn good option for him

The Eagles did give Vick a shot, if the got the room sure thing...Jackson, Burress, Avant, Maclin.

Vick would have some pretty good targets.

Depends on who gives him a shot really...maybe a team who needs WR's

i think he would fit in as a slot reciever with the eagles. Have jackson and maclin as your starters to keep the heat off burress. Then he could easily come in and make the clutch play like he used to

Steelers still havent started any player lead work outs yet but im not too worried. The steelers have a vetran team and it is probably better for them not to practice and risk injury.

I don't really want Burress tbh. He'd want to be in the game alot and Avant would miss out a fair bit and he is a massively underrated reciever. Has got some of the best hands around. One reciever I would like us to go for would be Houshmandzadeh, might be getting on a bit but would be a brilliant target for Vick in the redzone.

As for Kolb, I think he might be on his way so long as someone offers enough. Heard some rumors if he goes we might go for Vince Young Confused Don't really want our starter and back-ups QB's being in a quite similar mould.

Our number one target HAS to be Asomugha. Didn't draft a CB in the first couple of rounds which I think is an indication we are going to go for him as we need someone quality opposite of Asante. But can you imagine Samuel and Asomugha in the same team, where you going to throw the ball? Grin

kolb is definately gone. I reckon he will be off to arizona. Would be a good fit there and linking up with fitzgerald will be too much for him to pass on.

I think the eagles would be mad if they went for VY. I have never been really impressed by him. He has some potential left but i dont see it developing anytime soon

lock out is over!!!!!!!!

About time haha. Well now shit is going to be hetic for the next few weeks. So much for each club to do. It will be interesting to see which FA's land where. Also i think the browns are gonna be making a big play in the FA market due to the amount of excess cash they have.

So far it is looking like this.

Bush to Dolphins
Orton to Dolphins
McNabb to Vikings
Hasselbeck to Titans
Kolb to Cardinals

The McNabb and Hasselbeck deals have been confirmed by NFL.com

Given Asomugah looks like he might go to the Jets and Ike Taylor staying at the Steelers, it's a good result.

Orton to the Phins isnt a bad thing either, he isnt a bad QB. Since Tebow is now the head of Broncos

dolphins have pretty much tied up bush and orton.

That is an amazing trade for them. Orton and marshall can link up again and most likely post big numbers while there will be a bit of youth at the running back position. Something miami hasnt had for a while

^Even the bills seem to be slowly building towards something.

Great to have Bush on board, what a gun Very Happy Might be a better season for us, hopefully. We need one after a couple of losing seasons.

Small Eagles update:
OUT: David Akers (San Fransisco), Stewart Bradley (Arizona), Kevin Kolb (Arizona - Trade w/ Rodgers-Cromartie + 2012 2nd round pick), Leonard Weaver (Released, failed medical)

IN: Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (Arizona - Trade w/ Kolb), Vince Young (Free Agent), Jason Babin (Free Agent)

Overall, not too bad so far. Got a great deal on Kolb and replaced him with a decent enough back-up for Vick (Young is too similar to Vick for my liking, but what can you do?). Absolutely shattered we have lost Weaver though, I hope if he manages to get back to fitness we re-sign him because he was a quality player and seemed a top bloke as well.

Nnamdi Asomugah is a Philadelphia Eagle Grin

EDIT - What makes it even better is that the Cowboys thought they all but officially had him only for us to swoop in and within 30 minutes he was our player.

The 'Dream Team' continues to build with the signing of former Packer, Cullen Jenkins to the D-Line. Not only do we have an awesome pass defence with Samuel, Asomugah, DRC and Allen but now we have an awesome run stopping team in Cole, Jenkins, Babin and Chaney. Add to that our already explosive offence and you have yourself a recipie for a Superbowl Grin
