- Giteau received 190 votes, well ahead of injured lock Nathan Sharpe who was second (162), while last year's winner George Smith (161) was third, ahead of form prop Benn Robinson (132) and utility back Adam Ashley-Cooper (106).
Rookie of the Year went to James O'Connor.
Congrats to Matt Giteau, he becomes only the second ever back to win the award.

Giteau? WTF, the guy was outplayed by Donald in the Tri-Nations, the only Aussies that should of even been considered are George Smith, Benn Robinson and Adam Ashley-Cooper. Don't really see how Sharpe was up there.

Sharpe gets a lot of respect from his peers - you've got to remember that this award is picked by the Wallabies themselves. But I agree with Hendo - Robinson or AAC should've got it - and you guys know how much I detest AAC

I thought Smithy was the best of the Wallabies this year.
Giteau seemed well below his best this year, just looked to struggle to form any combination with Burgess especially.
