PostSubject: All Blacks V Wallabies in Tokyo   All Blacks V Wallabies in Tokyo Icon_minitimeTue Oct 27, 2009 11:08 pm

The fourth and final Bledisloe match will take place in Tokyo this Saturday night. With the Bledisloe already New Zealands for another year, this game for the players will just be a great way to kick start their end of year tour.

WALLABIES
15 Adam Ashley-Cooper, 14 Peter Hynes, 13 Ryan Cross, 12 Berrick Barnes, 11 Digby Ioane, 10 Matt Giteau, 9 Will Genia; 8 Wycliff Palu, 7 David Pocock, 6. Rocky Elsom (captain), 5 Mark Chisholm, 4 James Horwill, 3 Ben Alexander, 2 Tatafu Polota-Nau, 1 Benn Robinson. Reserves: 16 Stephen Moore, 17 Matt Dunning, 18 Dean Mumm, 19 George Smith, 20 Luke Burgess, 21 Drew Mitchell, 22 James OConnor.

forget about George Smith being benched, the big news out of the Wallabies camp is that legendary prop Matt Dunning has made his return and will come off the bench.

ALL BLACKS
1 Tony Woodcock, 2 Andrew Hore, 3 Neemia Tialata, 4 Brad Thorn, 5 Tom Donnelly, 6 Adam Thomson, 7 Richie McCaw (captain), 8 Rodney So'oialo, 9 Jimmy Cowan, 10 Dan Carter, 11 Sitiveni Sivivatu, 12 Ma'a Nonu, 13 Conrad Smith, 14 Cory Jane, 15 Mils Muliaina. Reserves: 16 Corey Flynn, 17 John Afoa, 18 Jason Eaton, 19 Kieran Read, 20 Brendon Leonard, 21 Stephen Donald, 22 Tamati Ellison

PostSubject: Re: All Blacks V Wallabies in Tokyo   All Blacks V Wallabies in Tokyo Icon_minitimeWed Oct 28, 2009 12:57 am

My pick for ABs squad is:

1. Woodcock, 2. Hore, 3. Franks 4. Thorn, 5. Donnelly, 6. Thomson, 7. McCaw, 8. Read, 9. Cowan, 10. Carter, 11. Sivivatu/Guildford, 12. Nonu, 13. Smith, 14. Jane, 15. Muliaina.
RESERVES: 16. Flynn, 17. Tialata, 18. Boric, 19. So'oialo, 20. Leonard, 21. Donald/Delany, 22. Ellison

With Ross left behind I'm picking Donnelly to retain his starting position from the last match in Wellington
Franks should be recalled back into the starting lineup with Tialata on the bench
Boric won't be rushed straight back into starting duties but beats Eaton to the bench
Loose trio from Wellington will remain intact, as will So'oialo's bench spot
Sivivatu will be bracketed with Guildford, pending Sivivatu's return from injury (last I read he's still coming right?) Picking Guildford to be 'next cab off the rank' for the wings behind Sivivatu and Jane.
Donald or Delany on the bench will be an interesting call and clearly spell out how the coaches rate them - but I think Donald will get the spot, based on test experience against the Wallabies if nothing else.
Ellison should win the 22 bench spot due to his utility value to cover 11-15 - may well not see any game time without injuries though - or it might be one of those farcical 5-minute spells at the end of the game (although they've been doing that less of late...)
Otherwise the status quo remains intact from the last game - extra touring players will get their shots over the course of the European tour, especially against Italy.

NOTE: This is what I think WILL happen - not what I WANT to happen Smile

I think your side is spot on P'Rus cant see it being any different to that. Hope Delaney gets the bench spot over Donald, would be interesting to see how well he does in the black jersey after his great form in the Air NZ Cup.

New Zealand 1 – Tony Woodcock, 2 – Andrew Hore, 3 – Neemia Tialata, 4 – Brad Thorn, 5 – Tom Donnelly, 6 – Adam Thomson, 7 – Richie McCaw (captain), 8 – Rodney So'oialo, 9 – Jimmy Cowan, 10 – Dan Carter, 11 – Sitiveni Sivivatu, 12 – Ma'a Nonu, 13 – Conrad Smith, 14 – Cory Jane, 15 – Mils Muliaina.

Reserves: 16 – Corey Flynn, 17 – John Afoa, 18 – Jason Eaton, 19 – Kieran Read, 20 – Brendon Leonard, 21 – Stephen Donald, 22 – Tamati Ellison.

Sivivatu has been cleared to play and Rodney is back in starting line up, other than that pretty predictable good to see Tamati Ellison on the bench hope he gets same game time

You'd like to think All Blacks by 13 +.

There's nothing but one-eyed-ness in that prediction. Smile

haha your sig cracks me up dugong.

I reckon ABs can do it 13+ again. Nice looking side and I'm also stoked to see So'oialo get a start, lets hope he has a great game so he can keep it.

Only real disappointments for me, is 1. No Guilford 2. No Delaney (deserves a shot over Donald) 3. No Messam (would give him the bench spot over Read)

Could be Rodney's last chance to prove himself this week. Disappointed Sivi is in there, he has hardly played at all so will be lacking a bit of match fitness and sharpness. Would rather Franks be starting at tighthead but for some reason he misses out all together

I reckon Woodcock Franks with Tialata on the bench would have been the way to go.

If Aussie are to win this game it wont be Gits, Barnes or even AAC that win it for them. It will be Matt Dunning. Expect him to come on find plenty of holes in the ABs defence, bust out some sweet side steps, throw some massive dummies and score atleast a couple of tries. Aussie will be looking for him to deliver the match winning drop goal, All Blacks must put pressure on him no matter where he is on the field. The big man can nail a droppie from anywhere.

There really is no room for Guildford - Sivi and Jane are clearly the established wings with Roks gone and Ellison is a better bench option for his superior utility value. Remember the equivalent match last year? A debutant Gear got PUMPED cause he was thrown onto the big stage straight out of NPC form and failed misearably - do we really want the same to happen to Guildford?

Agree re: Delany > Donald though Smile I think dropped Read from the whole 22 would be too hard on the guy (much as I'd like him to be taken down a peg or 10) and Messam has a lot to prove to get back up there. But yes, agree Rodney's starting is great Smile

Yes - Henry stated as much that this is Rodney's last chance. I reckon he'll prove his worth on this tour - it could well be one of the biggest talking points of the tour methinks...

I'm surprised to see Franks ommitted - but you need to remember that props typically don't his their best until late 20's at least so Franks still has a way to go. This tour will be good for him - I can see him becoming the next Greg Sommerville TBH.

Yea fair point on Guilford, just hope he gets an opportunity against Italy atleast. Definitely would only have him as a starting winger, not versatile enough for the bench spot.

Barnes is out rolled his ankle at training and might be gone for tour

AAC into 12 cross into 13 with O'Connor starting at 15 and Quade Cooper called onto bench.

Big blow to the Aussies chances it will heap huge responsibility on Giteau but it might mean they promote their backline a bit more especially down Ioanes wing because Peter Hynes (all i can do is chase kicks, who needs to create ) will be up to f all as usual

Hynes really is Aussie's answer to Scott Hamilton eh? Smile

Definitely a blow to the Wallabies and may put an end to the barnes-at-10 experiment, which is a pity since I think it would have worked wonders and finally shut up the BS about Gits being better than Carter! Very Happy

AAC/Cross midfield is likely to be ripped apart by Nonu and Smith - they're both decent players but, all things being equal, neither are up the Wellington pair's calibre.
