Which players do you think could end their careers or could be on the move elsewhere before the RWC in 2011?

For The All Blacks

Brad Thorn would have retired and wouldn't be surprised if DC went away for good by then.

For The Wallabies

Stirling Mortlock, Al Baxter and Nathan Sharpe all are 30+ and are definitely nearing the end of there careers.

For The Springboks

John Smit and Victor Matfield both 30+

I think Mortlock will be gone.

Also think that Dan Carter will be gone.

Dont know about the Springboks, dont know much about them let alone knowing anything about the Rugby.

I think Sharpe and Baxter will be gone. Not sure about Mortlock, depends how his form is I guess.

Anyway by RWC 2011, Giteau and Barnes will be dominating Razz

George Smith will be past 30 by then.

Rodney So'oialo will be past 30 as well, yet to be seen whether he can push through until then.

How about Rokocoko?

Smith maybe replace Dunning in the front row imo haha.

Sooialo i think maybe still be there by then, maybe go out after the cup. I think more young talent will come thru about 09/10 so may push Rokocoko out. I went to the LaSalle VS Auckland Boys game and they have some speedstars coming thru.

Joe is only 25 he will still be around in 2011 and i recon he will be as good as ever, as long as he doesn't have to deal with any more injuries. Sivivatu is a year older so if any of the wingers wont be there it more likely to be him, especially with the form he has been in.

Yeah definitely, Sivivatu is just past it now. But i think if Joe can keep his form up and keep playing good he will be in with a shot no doubt. Just thought id put it out there that last year at my college there were so many good backs playing for other clubs so the future of the game is very healthy.

Welcome 40/20, that article is a very interesting read, like how they gone in to some depth with newbies like Dagg and Guilford, cant believe they think Leonard for HB.

ONES I THINK WILL RETIRE:

Carl Hayman (will come back to nz, but will retire after a year or so)
Leon MacDonald (will be to old and has problems with concussion)
Tasesa Lavea (wont make all blacks)
Rodney So'oialo
Andrew Hore
Keven Mealamu

It looks like the All Blacks will need to bring in a new hooker or two as i believe hore and mealamu will both be retired before the 2011 world cup.

Cheers Hendo.

Yep, I enjoyed that article. Was a bit of an eye opener as I hadnt realised how old our back 3 would be in 2011. If any position benefits from the explosiveness of youth its the outside backs so I'm not sure how effective Joe and Siti will be at 28-29 respectively.

I'm really hoping the next couple of S14 campaigns sees the rise of Hosea Gear. I've had big hopes for him ever since he made his Lions debut. Has all the pace and footwork of his brother but is arguably stronger in contact so could be an absolute match winner if he kicks on.

Just read the article - man there's some rubbish they're spouting in some situations.

Fullback is out of Toeava or Dagg? Gimme a break, Cory Jane and Paul Williams (plus some recent fliers like Jared Payne or the Robinson guy in Southland) surely deserve a look in.

The author really seems to have their blinkers on in some of their picks - and I agree with Hendo, Leonard has a LONG way to go before he overtakes Weepu and Cowan, and even Mathewson will be pushing for the role. Frankly, last year's "glory boys" at halfback (Leonard and Ellis) have to prove themselves all over again in 2009 as far as I'm concerned.

I'm pleased that he's shown some confidence in the midfield setup of Nonu, Smith and Kahui being able to do the job right through - people still don't show any of them the faith they have earned this year.

They also don't seem to trust Rodney will stick around - though I read on RugbyHeaven that the NZRU are taking very specific steps to ensure he's still around.

I read that herald article on the weekend and it was a load of rubbish fancy trying to pick an all blacks squad three years in advance.

Only Thorn may have retired but there is no reason why he couldnt still be playing.

How many new players will come onto the scene in the next two years and stake a claim to a spot we dont know.

You're right there mate - who knows what will change between now and then.

Some young buck could become better than a current incumbent; someone could pick up a career-ending injury, someone could suddenly just become crap...

Let's just enjoy the "now" with rugby and worry about 2011 in...oh..say...the end of 2010?

How old is thorn? I believe that Keiran Read will be moved in a starting spot for the all blacks before the 2011 wrugby world cup. He is a great player who leads from the front for canterbury and there is no reason to not have him playing for the all blacks in the starting 15

Keiran Read should just be a bench player and we should work on the loose forward trio of Kaino, McCaw and Rodney

JC left a hole bigger than anybody imagined.
