our midfield and inside backs are going to get eat up, not a good and balanced 9,10,12,13.

you're right there willy. Fourie and Roberts are two of the best attacking centers in Union, McAlister and Ellison will definitely have a tough job containing them.

The most concerning part is 9 10, would much rather see Ellis Delaney again but obviously Ellis has come home

id go as far to say, McCalister is most over rated player in the whole of nz. he has come back from overseas and really not offered anything whatsoever

Thats a bit harsh. Not arguing with his form, I agree he's been rubbish since he got back. But before he left he was arguably the best 12 in world rugby.

And when you consider how little game time he's had since returning, its probably no suprise that he's yet to reach those standards again.

A full S14 campaign next year should see him regain form. Espcially as he's likely to play full time at 12 (barring injuries) and get some consistent game time.

McAlister back to his 2006/2007 form is a good thing for NZ rugby because he offers a different type of 12 to Nonu with his kicking ability.

Agree - people can argue all they like over who is better between Nonu and McAlister, but the fact remains that it's apples vs oranges since they play completely different styles. Personally I think the ABs (if fully fit) could field arguably 2 world class midfield combinations, with Nonu/Smith as one pairing, and McAlister/Kahui as the other - you could then send them out depending on the opposition...

And Toeava who could team up with someone like Ellison or Bateman and still be pretty dangerous. There is plenty of depth in the midfield.

I don't see Toeava as a starting Centre TBH - despite his performance in Wellington. He's a broad spectrum cover man to back up anyone from 11-15 from the bench. Ellison is the same and the two are really fighting for that particular position.

Yep, fully agree on that one.

McAlister/Kahui would make an outstanding midfield combo if both players were in form. Nonu and Smith have proven themselves one of the best midfield combos in world rugby this year but I still think there's a lot of merit in having two playmakers and a left/right kicking pairing at 10 & 12.

But at least with the incumbents doing so well we're not forced into experimenting so we're pretty lucky in that regard.
