Blues V Hurricanes - Awesome way to start the competition. Cruden in his first Super Rugby game will be the one to watch. Also Alby Mathewson taking on his formers club. The Canes look a bit stronger on paper and expecting them to get up here. Hurricanes 1-12.

Force V Brumbies - Expecting the Brumbies with their recruits, Giteau and Elsom to be far too strong here. Brumbies 13+

Cheetahs V Bulls
- Bulls to carry on where they left off last season. Very similar team to last season so expecting them to be right up there at the top. Bulls 13+

Crusaders V Highlanders - Last season the Highlanders upset Crusaders, but I can't seeing it happening here. With Carter back and home advantage Crusaders easy. Crusaders 13+

Reds V Waratahs - Berrick Barnes takes on his old club. Reds will really need to step up to get the win here, I think they can do it though. Hopefully Genia and Cooper can get that awesome backline going. Reds 1-12

Lions V Stormers
- King Carlos returns to Super Rugby and I thinking he could make the difference here. Lions 1-12

Sharks V Chiefs
- Home Advantage for the Sharks should see them get up here. Looking forward to seeing what the Chiefs do with Donald and Delaney. Sharks 1-12

Lions V Stormers - -12 T Chavanga

Hurricanes 1-12
gotta back the 'Canes

Brumbies 13+
Force are normally crap and no Giteau makes them worse

Bulls 13+
The Habana-less Bulls should still be far too strong.

Crusaders 1-12
this game is normally close however Crusaders in an easy win.

Waratahs 1-12
Blues V Maroons. for once the Blues will win one... but it will be very close.

Stormers 13+
Stormers pulled of a big signing by nabbing Habana. i expect him to feature big in this game.

Sharks 13+
Sharks @ home. near unbeatable.

Hurricanes: Cory Jane, Tamati Ellison, Conrad Smith, Ma'a Nonu, Hosea Gear, Willie Ripia, Piri Weepu, Victor Vito, Scott Waldrom, Nick Crosswell, Jason Eaton, Michael Paterson, Neemia Tialata, Andrew Hore (captain), John Schwalger.
Reserves: Dane Coles, Jacob Ellison, Bryn Evans, Karl Lowe, Tyson Keats, Aaron Cruden, David Smith.

Blues: Rudi Wulf, Rene Ranger, Isaia Toeava, Benson Stanley, Joe Rokocoko, Stephen Brett, Alby Mathewson, Viliami Ma'afu, Serge Lilo, Jerome Kaino, Anthony Boric, Kurtis Haiu, John Afoa, Keven Mealamu (captain), Tony Woodcock.
Reserves: Tom McCartney, Charlie Faumuina, Filo Paulo, Peter Saili, Chris Smylie, Daniel Kirkpatrick, Paul Williams

Cruden not starting is no surprise really - boy needs to find his feet first; good move by Cooper IMO. I'm sure Hendo and Chris have a few things to say about the loosie makeup, but it's the right one to start with IMO.

Rodney only misses the first week aye? Thats a very interesting loose forward trio. I think I would have gone 8. Crosswell, 7. Waldrom 6. Lowe

Liking the look of that backline, pretty stoked they're starting Ellison on the wing instead of Smith, just wish Cruden would get the 10 jersey, oh well hopefully he has a blinder off the bench.

If conditions are good definitely expect a high scoring affair, especially if the Blues play like they did last season.

Rodney, Richie and Mils are away for the first 3 weeks.

You guys really don't think Vito's got anything huh?

No way should Cruden be starting yet men, ease him in and let him find his feet.

I reckon Vito would be more effective coming off the bench.

Blues V Hurricanes - Feb 12th 19:35
Force V Brumbies - Feb 12th 19:05
Cheetahs V Bulls - Feb 12th 19:10

Why is neither of Robbie Robinson not playing? IMO he should be on the bench at least given his utility ability.

Well the Hurricances have scored the first victory of the season beating the Blues 34-20. Was a great game I thought, hopefully signs of things to come.
The 14 point margin flatters Wellington a little bit imo, Auckland were probably better over 80 minutes but their poor discipline in kickable positions was probably the difference.
Gear scored the Canes only try, with 9 penalty kicks and a conversion. 2 Auckland tries were scored by Brett and Afoa with Brett kicking 2 conversions and 2 penalties.

Blues gave away waaaay to many penalties.
At HT with the Blues ahead by about 8 i thought they were going to go on and win it.

Hopefully the start of a good year for the 'Canes.

^^ Yeah but I thought general play was good. It was a hell of a lot better than some of the crap served upto us on the Spring Tours anyway Laughing. Good signs for the season though if all teams try and play like that.

Plus with the new interpretations of the rules there will be a lot more pens than normal with the refs cracking down majorly. Id say in week 2 or 3 the players will be used to the new rules which will lead to less penalties.

That was great game tonight, sure would have liked more tries but very happy with the result. How hard was Stanley's hit on Cruden! welcome to super 14 haha!

Stephen Brett was very impressive during the first but all turned to shit for him in the second.

My man of the match was Piri Weepu, he had an awesome game, and even though Alby played well Weepu showed the class between the two halfbacks.

Hurricanes will go all the way this season!
