Well week 7 of the Super 14 is here and we have a couple of cracking matches here in Australia.

First up on Friday night sees the hapless Lions travel to Carisbrook to visit the Highlanders. This has the potential to be an absolutely awful game of rugby and I think it will live upto its billing and more. Cant see the Lions getting anything out of it though, Highlanders 1-12.
The Friday night game in Australia sees what could be the match of the round when the Chiefs hit Canberra to take on the Brumbies. This match should be such a contrast from the earlier match in NZ and I think the Brumbies will bounce back from their narrow loss to the Blues and take the 4 points here. ACT 1-12.
The only game from the Republic this weekend sees arguably the biggest improvers from last season the mighty Queensland Reds take on the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein. The Cheetahs have had to make alot of changes from their brusing encounter against the Stormers last weekend and I think this plus the Reds being rested after their Bye weekend will mean a good away victory for the Queenslanders. Reds 1-12.
The first game on Saturday sees the Sharks visit Wellington to take on the bruised and battered Hurricanes. The Canes have lost their previous 3 games, albeit on their tour of South Africa and they will be looking to make amends back at home. The Sharks will be looking for some momentum after their first up win against the Highlanders last weekend and this could be a really good game. I think the Canes will be too good over the 80 minutes but I expect the Sharks to put up a good fight. Canes 1-12.
Another contender for MOTR is Saturday's game in Sydney where the Waratahs take on the Blues. NSW had a scrappy last-start win in Perth whilst the Blues edged out the Brumbies in Auckland in a high scoring affair. Im unsure about whos going to get my tip in this one but it should be a cracker. Ill say the Blues to just sneak home. Auckland 1-12.
The final game of the weekend takes place in Perth where the winless Force take on the travelling Bulls. Im ready to risk my tips and say the Force are going to stage the upset of the season here, the Bulls werent at their best last weekend and they have had a short turnaround this week due to travelling over and if the Force are going to spring an upset this is the game to do it in. James O'Connor to star in a thrilling Force win for me. Force 1-12.

The Stormers and Crusaders have a bye.

Discuss! Very Happy

great to have home advantage again, it's been a hard few weeks over in South Africa...we had as much success as the ABs had over there last year.

First step to making the finals this year is securing wins at home. Its seems most teams are finding it a little hard away. Out of the Canes 6 games 4 have been away, so I'm still confident we can make the finals.

Fantastic to see Julian Huxley making his comeback to Professional rugby against the Chiefs tomorrow night. Hes been out for 2 years after he was diagnosed with a brain clot I think as a result of a knock to the head he took vs the Reds. I still remember the vision of seeing him down and then his whole body started shaking for some reason.
It was distressing stuff...but welcome back Hux!

Yeah I saw the game when he went down too - what was incredible was that, after he was eventually taken off, the teams somehow found the will to play the game...it happened in like the first 5 minutes and was eventually taken off almost half an hour later...so in the end the game effectively restarted...

Yeh Hux is a fav of mine, he was playing some great rugby which saw him burst into the Wallabies team and become a pretty important player for us.. One step at a time but hopefully he can get back to that form. Wish him all the best..

Also Daniel Braid out of the clash against the Cheetahs is a massive loss he's been one of our best this year for sure.. He's a real leader going to be missed but hopefully Schatzy can step up.

Yeah Braid out will be a big blow, Broussow is out for them as well so at least we wont get toally owned at the breakdown lol.
Schatz had a pretty solid couple of performances earlier on in the season so hopefully he can repeat them again.

Just read an article about a new look Wallaby backline? Although it could be for the best, it would push Barnes out of the starting line up. I think the idea has a lot of potential, espec with Reds duo Genia/Cooper, but some players may miss out. The only positive from this is it gives Australia a back up plan which could come in handy if there was a crucial injury in the World Cup.

The Backline they were talking about was. Although there was no mention of the bench, i would assume it would be as follows.

9. Genia
10. Cooper
11. Mitchell
12. Giteau
13. Mortlock
14. Ioane
15. ACC

20. Valentine
21. Barnes
22. O'Connor

^^ Yeah I like the look of that, Genia and Cooper have clearly been the form 9 and 10 in Australia this season so if it keeps up then they should get the spots.

Highlanders won 39-29 today as well. Brumbies were up 17-16 at HT vs the Chiefs.

Just caught highlights of the Highlanders/Lions match and it really looked like a bottom of the table clash. The worrying thing for the Lions at the moment is their lack of composure. Their poor passing, tackling and decision making has been very poor. Thanks to some good goal kicking from Dagg, the Highlanders were able to scrape through with the win.

The Brumbies ended up winning against the Chiefs in a very exciting match. I must say it was a very brave effort from the Chiefs and they probably should have got a penalty for obstruction instead of a try against, nonetheless both sides were very competitive and well drilled.

Yep, big win overnight. It was a scrappy performance, but I'll take the four points. Grin

Three wins on the trot and our first ever victory in Bloemfontein, now up to 5th on the ladder for the time being. Will Genia was all class, yet another gun performance from him.

Good win for the Brumbies last night, excellent match I thought. On another note that young flanker Michael Hooper was quite impressive on debut. Also, awesome to see Julian Huxley back in Super Rugby!

Yeah Panthers a wins a win and you would definatly take any win you get in South Africa as its bloody hard to win over there.

Quade Copper really is playing well aswell . The 9 and 10 combo has been superb this year. Copper could be pushing for a Selection in the All Black Squad . He is better then Delaney who got a chance so yeh.

Can't wait for the Blues tonight i can't say im that confident but hopping that they come a way with the win and 5 points would be nice Smile

Coopers a Wallaby.

Awesome win last night though Very Happy. back-to-back-to-back! AMAZING! Laughing. I think we can go 3 from 3 in SA too just quietly, Sharks at their place will be the toughest but theyve been woeful this season so I expect a win and we should cruise past the Lions.

Sharks just won with a penalty after the whistle.

haha what the F*** is Rozz on? Cooper be pushing for an All Black jersey Super 14 - Week 7 48427

Quade Cooper has played for the Wallabies and plays his super rugby in Australia, no way he'll ever be an AB despite being born in NZ.

Hurricanes don't beat the Crusaders next weekend, I reckon their final shot will just about be over. Gutted they lost last night.

Western Force put up another gutsy performance last night as well, 28-15 win for the Bulls. Just think where they could be without all those injuries.
