I watched a bit of the Southern Mississippi v South Carolina season opener on Friday morning, was a good watch, S.Carolina won 41-13 or something and they looked very good.
Have decided to go for the Oklahoma Sooners too 2010/11: College Football Thread - Page 3 575896. Beat Utah State 31-24 over the weekend.

I've decided on Oklahoma for mine. I was always a big fan of Demarco Murray over the last 2 years or so and was a fan of the way Bradford played.

There wasn't any games on One HD over the weekend, but I do expect them to play SEC games when the Conference seasons kick in. That's in three weeks.

Yeah it's the highest crowd ever for a College Football game. There's at least 10 teams that play in front of crowds 100,000 plus. To name a few that I know of, Michigan, Penn State, Texas, Alabama, Tennessee and Notre Dame. There's quite a few more. I'll find out.

For him to be a Heisman Trophy candidate, Boise would have to win every game. That includes beating Virginia Tech and Oregon State. Last season he threw for 39 TD's and only 3 INT's. An amazing stat. The guy is a stud.

Whats all this 'debate' the commentators were going on about Boise?

It's pretty complicated, but here it is in detail.

Firstly, basically there is six main power Conferences. Those being the SEC, Big 10, Big 12, PAC-10, ACC and Big East. Boise State,, and also TCU are non-BCS teams (meaning they don't play in one of the big six Conferences).

Boise State plays in the WAC and TCU the MWC. These Conferences are much, much weaker than any of the main six, hence the debate as to why at the end of the season, when Boise State wins all their games (goes 12-0), if they're better than any team that plays in one of the main six Conferences and that team goes say 11-1.

That's why for Boise State today was SO important. Because you play three non-Conference matches before the Conference season begins, and for Boise State to get points and impressive the people that do the voting, they need to schedule really tough non-Conference games. They've in the past scheduled one very tough non-Conference game (the last two years Boise State has scheduled my Oregon Ducks, to which they beat them both years. Both in Oregon and in Boise). But last season Boise State went 12-0 and still this wasn't good enough to get them into the BCS National Championship Game.

So this season, Boise State has scheduled two tough non-Conferences games in the hope that this will finally be good enough to get them to the BCS National Championship Game and why today's win over a top 10 team in Virginia Tech was so important.

Hope that helps mate.

On today's game, what a game it was between Boise State and Virginia Tech in Washington (home of the Washington Redskins NFL team). It lived up to ALL the hype going into it.

The 1st Quarter Boise got off to an unbelievable start leading 17-0 after the 1st Q, but for the remainder of the game, the defense of the Hokies was very good, and not only that, Hokies QB Tyrod Taylor started to really get to grips with the Broncos D. Not only that, star Hokies RB Ryan Williams had 3 TD's. But in the end it came down to the final two minutes, with the Broncos down 30-26 and needing a TD to win the game and keep their BCS National Championship Game hopes intact. Step up Broncos QB Kellen Moore, what a last drive it was by him, simply some remarkable throws under extreme pressure, and in the end the Broncos came away with a 33-30 win.

A fantastic match, a brilliant atmosphere with just under 87,000 fans in attendance and it capped a fantastic week one of College Football. Bring on week two where there's many more fantastic matches.

No worries AFC.

Yeah last season they went 13-0 and they're 50-4 over the last four seasons, plus today's win which is better than any other team.

It has. In TCU, BYU and Utah that's three very good programs but after that it's very weak. Also, Utah will be in the PAC-10 after this season, BYU has gone independent like Notre Dame and Boise State has joined the MWC to go with TCU.
