Just a bit of fun - imagine if a sort of exhibition competition was setup where 3 cultural teams were setup for a mini-tournament; a Maori squad, a Pacific Island squad, and a Barbarians squad (for all the rest)...who would make each Squad?

Now currently with the Maori team they take some pretty tenuous links in allowing some players in, so we'll use a little common sense here - they basically have to be clearly of Maori or PI descent to qualify for those teams, even those who have already represented the Maori. Determining who is and is not clearly as such we can leave open for debate Wink

Only those eligible for the ABs currently can be included, so overseas players like Hayman and Evans are out, as are people like Fa'atonu Fili and Junior Polouligaga who have played for Samoa already. But again - open it for debate if it gets easier Wink

Barbarians:
1. Woodcock
2. Hore
3. O. Franks
4. Thorn
5. Donnelly
6. Johnson
7. McCaw
8. Read
9. Cowan
10. Carter
11. B. Smith
12. Donald
13. C. Smith
14. Jane
15. Dagg

Didn't really know for 12, can put MJ in at 6 and this team will still give the others an absolute hiding

Gees those Poly outside backs look absolutely lethal. Dunno how Ice would go at 10 but him and Fotuali'i combining would be fun to watch.

Loosies & front row look strong too. Maybe Vito is an option at 8 instead?

About the only weaknesses are at 10 & lock. Otherwise thats a team that would worry just about everyone.

BTW - Ranger is a Cook Island boy so you'd need to swap him over from the Maori team. Makes the Pacifica outside backs even more dangerous.

Yeah some awesome players there in those teams Hendo Smile

Interesting thought there about who out of Roks, Sivi and Ranger would be the wingers? Nonu and SBW in the midfield is an easy choice though, maybe the other way around though? Agree that Vito's probably a better pick than So'oialo now at 8.

10 is really the hardest part to pick and yeah, Ice is probably the only call. If PI-capped players could play, would you pick Polouligaga and/or Fa'atonu Fili?

Also - no Kahui in the Maori team??

ah Kahui knew I was forgetting someone. He'd definitely slot in there over Sweeney. But Sweeney can move to the wing to replace Ranger.
