FSN has reported that the Knights might re-employ Houston, as soon as tonight, after being cleared of drug charges.
Former Newcastle Knights player Chris Houston has been cleared of all drug supply charges.
Magistrate Elaine Truscott found there was insufficient evidence to prove any of the four counts he had been accused off.
The Knights had indicated they would re-sign Houston if the charges are thrown out, with chairman Rob Tew saying ”If he was found not guilty and indeed had no case to answer, we would think about getting him back very seriously.” The 25-year-old voluntarily terminated his contract with the Knights in March after becoming the second Newcastle player charged with drugs offences.
