1. Hoffman
2. Gagai
3. Glenn
4. Copley
5. Yow Yeh
6. Norman
7. Wallace
8. Tronc
9. McCullough
10. Kenny
11. Gillett
12. Te'o

18. Lockyer
19. Hodges
20. Thaiday
21. Hannant
22. Kemp
23. Baptiste
24. Beale
25. Carlaw

You can't go into a season without your star players playing at least 1 trial game. It's not the ideal preparation. I only expect Locky, Hodges etc to play 1 of the games.

Expect to see Gagai/Kemp given a few goes on the wing, Hunt to play in the 7 for a bit and Te'o/Gillett/Glenn to play in the centres for parts.

Neither Taylor or Merritt will back up from All-Stars, most ridiculous thing I've heard, There will be recovery on the Sunday for all the All-Stars players and even if there wasn't you really expect two players to backup 24 hours later for an exhibition game after playing against the world's best?.

Inglis's virus will probably rule him out for all trial games, because that has set him back a week.

Burgess is starting to do Cardio work and might be a slight chance for the Shield as he is recovering pretty well. but I'd omit him too.

7. Shaun Johnson
8. Upu Po'ching
9. Alehana Mara
10. James Gavet
11. Ben Henry
12. Lewis Brown
13. Steve Rapira

14. Shaun Berrigan
15. Russell Packer
16. Ben Matulino

WARRIORS VS SEA EAGLES
1. Lance Hohaia
2. Kevin Locke

The Bears game could really be something to watch, I expect Johnson, Gavet, Henry and maybe Mara to play those games. We put out close to our best team in 2010 against the sea eagles so im pretty sure we will do the same this year.

My Cowboys trial team:

1.Matty Bowen
2.Kalifa Faifailoa
3.Antonio Winterstein
4.Ben Jones
5.Ash Graham
6.Johnathan Thurston
7.Ray Thompson
8.James Tamou
9.Aaron Payne
10.Ashton Sims
11.Glenn Hall
12.Gavin Cooper
13.Dallas Johnson

14.Clint Amos
15.Tariq Sims
16.Leeson Ah Mau
17.Blake Leary
18.Dane Hogan
19.Jason Taumalolo
20.Isaac Ah Mau
21.Will Tupou

Resting Tonga, Scott and Bolton (Segyaro & Tate injured),

Pretty much the things they need to be trialing is who will get the wing/centre spots because with Tate out any of Winterstein, Tupou, Jones, Cooper, Jones, Graham. Then theres the choice of who to parter JT out of Thompson, Jones and Morgan. Then once that is done who to be the utility out of Thompson, Jones and Morgan, Amos (would probs be Segyaro but hes injured I think). And theres plenty of young promising options to choose from for the bench forwards.

John kafito is one to watch out for. Part of the bears squad but was injured most of last year. He played in the same match last year against manly and was bulldozing through tackles or just carry 2-3 on his back. Wish they'd have played it on the Sunday so I could have gone. Also guys like Webster, Peats, Reynolds, Mundine, Morgan, Mansour, Roberts were all part of the 20's side last year and are part of the full time training squad. All worth watching out for.

Warriors and Knights played out a 22-22 draw in NZ. Chris Houston was rusty, missed a few tackles and made a couple of errors and was very lean. Expected though after being out for so long. For the Warriors, Joel Moon was impressive, has made a good start to try and gain an unlikely spot in the Warriors side in round 1.

Roosters beat ??? 22-12 in another trial, with Anthony Cherrington playing his first game since injuring himself in the 2010 pre season.

Yeah them.

Also must say that the refs are cutting down on the play the ball this year...

Quote :
"It was becoming a big concern that a lot of guys weren't playing the ball with their foot. They were stepping off the mark, moving sideways and milking penalties because the marker wasn't square."
Read more... http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/darren-lockyer-says-nrl-referees-are-right-to-crack-down-on-players-bad-habits/story-e6frep5o-1225999558370

There was 4 or 5 penalties awarded in the Warriors-Knights trial for not playing the ball with their foot. Expect to see a lot of those penalties awarded in the regular season, particularly in the early rounds.

They had that problem a year or two ago with the play the ball, the refs would ping players for not properly playing or touching it with their foot but then towards the middle to latter halves of the season they stopped.

ST George Illawarra have named the son of Parramatta great Mick Cronin in a squad containing 10 of their premiership stars for Sunday's Charity Shield clash with South Sydney.

Peter Cronin is among four recruits making their debuts for the Dragons, joining former Manly and Cronulla forward Adam Cuthbertson, Wests Tigers signing David Gower and ex-Penrith forward Daniel Penese at ANZ Stadium.

The traditional fixture will also mark the return from long-term injury for prop Dan Hunt (achilles), who has signed a new deal with the club, and outside back Ratu Peni Tagive (knee).

Exciting young Dragons hooker Cameron King, who played one NRL match last season and was recently chosen in Ricky Stuart's NSW Blues in waiting squad has been given the opportunity to start at hooker.

Assistant coach Steve Price will be in charge of the team with Wayne Bennett on NRL All Stars duty.

The Rabbitohs have named their strongest available line-up, with a long list of players sidelined by injury.

Sam Burgess (shoulder), Greg Inglis (shoulder/hip), Issac Luke (shoulder), Michael Crocker (knee), Luke Stuart (shoulder), Jason Clark (hamstring) and Blake Judd (hamstring) are all out but are expected to be fit for the round one match against the Sydney Roosters.

Prop Ben Ross will back up from the bench following his first game in nearly two years last weekend following a neck injury.

Meanwhile, Hunt has agreed to a contract extension that will keep him at the Dragons until the end of 2013.

Sunday's game will be his first since rupturing his achilles in the warm-up to the round 11 clash against Canberra at WIN Stadium last May.

"It is pretty exciting times for me at the moment, to be returning to the field and also to secure my future here at the Dragons for a couple of extra years," Hunt said.

"It's been a long recovery road but all the hard work will have paid off come Sunday when I get out there on the field."

The Rabbitohs will be looking to take home the Charity Shield for the fourth consecutive year. Kick-off is at 7pm.

South Sydney: Rhys Wesser, Chris McQueen, Dylan Farrell, Junior Vaivai, Fetuli Talanoa, John Sutton, Chris Sandow, Scott Geddes, Beau Falloon, Roy Asotasi (capt), Eddy Pettybourne, Shannan McPherson, Ben Lowe. Interchange: Kane Morgan, Malcolm Webster, Shaune Corrigan, Josh Mansour, Adam Reynolds, Nathan Peats, Dave Tyrrell, Deon Apps, Matt Mundine, George Burgess, Ben Ross, Adrian Ha'angana.

St George Illawarra: Darius Boyd, Ratu Peni Tagive, Mark Gasnier, Matt Cooper, Jason Nightingale, Nathan Fien, Ben Hornby (capt), Dan Hunt, Cameron King, Michael Weyman, Beau Scott, Ben Creagh, Matt Prior. Interchange: Michael Greenfield, Trent Merrin, Jake Marketo, Nick Emmett, Jack Bosden, Bronx Goodwin, Jon Green, David Gower, Daniel Penese, Adam Cuthbertson, Mitch Rein, Peter Cronin, Nathan Jones.

Cherrington again is having a shocking start to the new season. Just saw pictures of him in a stretcher with his hands on his face.
