Yeah shot Blues. This is our season! Was a better game than last nights that's for sure. Kaino stepped up. Has anyone found Brett's kicking boots yet? Or Carter's for that matter?

^Yeah top win for the Blues, great comeback. Really like the look of the Blues XV, definitely should cause plenty of problems for most sides this season. Same old story for the Brumbies last night... got off to a great start only to let the opposition back in it, scrappy win in the end. Quality performance from Robbie Coleman... definitely a player to watch this season.

Might try and get into the Super 15 this year now that the Melbourne Rebels are in. Saw bits and pieces of the game on Friday night.

Man - as far as rugby advertising goes, that Rebels match was about as bad as they come...

YEAHHHH!! Not long ago we would have lost a game like that one for sure... shows how much the team has progressed in the past year and a bit. Really scrappy win, but credit to the Force on a quality defensive performance... Pocock, Brown and Hodgson were all superb and JOC really did run the show - top individual performance. Can't wait for the Tahs clash this weekend, always a great spectacle.

Yea, they were genuinely bad. And not just in the pack where they have traditionally struggled in the past anyway - even the star studded backline looked lost at times. They are definitely missing Weepu's experience in close.

Early days of course so hopfully they come right, but they were easily the worst of the NZ teams on the weekend.

of course!! yeah been trying to put my finger on why canes were so bad and its cos Weepu isnt there. yeah piri definately brings the forwards and backs into cohesion when ever he's on. notice it big time when he subs on for cowan and the difference it makes to the entire team.

Yep for sure. Generally a team needs at least of one of their 9 or 10 to be an experienced head to function properly.

If you look at the rest of the NZ teams - all of their 9/10's who started over the weekend (with the exception of Sopoaga) had at least 4 seasons of Super rugby behind them. And Sopoaga had the benefit of an experienced test half to guide him.

Unfortunately the Canes didnt have that luxury with Cruden obviously being very new to this level and Keats being no more than a bit player over the past few years.

If Cruden is going to live up to all the hype, he needs to take control of the team and somehow get them to gell. Otherwise it could be a long few weeks before Weepu comes back.

Unsure whether todays terrible earthquake in CHCH will affect the Saders scheduled game in Welly on Sat, but of it goes ahead, I suspect Blackadder will have his boys absolutely firing.

The Canes will get caned methinks. And by a lot.

Ironically last season Keats was so good that Weepu was benched for much of the season...

The forwards got completely played out of the game and the backs were left thinking they'd have to do all the work themselves - which as we know all too well is dangerous territory for the Canes and that's what often loses them matches.

Cruden need to simultaneously take on the responsibility of guiding the ship (likely to be with hayward outside him this coming week) and yet somehow not stress himself out cause that'll just cause him to crumble.

As you say though - Canes'll get caned.

To be fair though p'rus, I think Keats' gametime last year was as much to do with Piri playing poorly as it was Keats playing well. We all saw how good Weepu was in the tests once he decided to pull finger.

I hope they somehow get it sorted. They're one of the best teams to watch when they click.

But gees you can already see how competitive the NZ conference will be and we might be lucky to get more than one team in the finals. At this rate, everyone else will be taking too many points off each other for anyone to get through under the 'best of the rest' scenario.
