He turned us down last year.. Got a source or anything?

Edit: The telegraph is BS but here it is anyway

I love Quade but if it means losing JJ and Carney NO WAY!! Barnes is a pussy, he was out for like 2 months with concussion, SBW is trouble and we already have enough at the club. I would go after Dugan as we need a FB.

Quote :
THE Sydney Roosters have a long-term plan to sign NSW fullback Josh Dugan for 2013 and launch a raid on some of rugby union's biggest names.

The Sunday Telegraph can reveal that the Bondi Junction club's hitlist includes Wallabies Quade Cooper and Berrick Barnes, along with All Blacks superstar Sonny Bill Williams.

A surprisingly poor start to the season has forced the Roosters into pursuing a new direction, geared towards adding speed and creativity to complement current playmakers Todd Carney and Mitchell Pearce.

Dugan comes off contract with the Raiders at the end of next year and has privately told a number of people within the NRL that he is prepared to walk away from Canberra.

The Roosters targeted Dugan as an NRL rookie in 2009, but the Green Machine were swift to upgrade his contract long-term.

The Raiders fullback remains close friends with Dally M Medallist Carney from their time in the national capital and the pair would form a potent combination.

The newly-crowned NSW Origin fullback is the Roosters' top priority, ahead of Cooper, Williams and then Waratahs five-eighth Barnes.

Sydney Roosters chief executive Steve Noyce was quick to try to distance the club from the hitlist yesterday, but The Sunday Telegraph has been assured it is part of the long-term vision at Bondi.

"It's just laughable, those silly things. It's just not true," Noyce said.

"Before I got here we were more of a high-profile recruitment club, whereas in more recent times we've taken a strategy of building from the bottom and creating strong culture moving through.

"We're a high-profile club, so I'm sure there are a number of players that want to be here - but that sort of stuff is just stupid."

Despite the denials from Noyce, when you do the numbers on the club's current roster a raid on the marketplace makes sense.

Long-serving players Braith Anasta and Anthony Minichiello will be off contract at the end of next year, while recent additions Jason Ryles and Mark Riddell will retire at the end of this season.

And Queensland forward Nate Myles will walk away from the club one year early after securing a four-year deal with the Gold Coast.

Their departures and the anticipated salary cap increase to at least $6 million once the new television rights deal is negotiated will deliver the Tricolours a war chest to revamp their roster.

Current Roosters Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Frank-Paul Nu'uausala, Martin Kennedy, Carney and Pearce are all locked up until at least the end of 2013, giving the club a stable foundation to build on.

The cross-code raid on rugby stars Cooper, Williams and Barnes will be considerably harder to orchestrate, but it is by no means beyond the realms of possibility.

Cooper re-signed a one-year extension with the Australian Rugby Union last Thursday before publicly stating his desire to play in State of Origin football for Queensland.

With the Rugby World Cup and another season of international football under his belt, the timing of the mooted NRL salary cap is set up perfectly for Cooper.

Parramatta made a $1 million play for him last September before the Wallaby five-eighth opted to remain in union, with this year's World Cup a priority.

Sydney Roosters recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan was guarded when contacted about the club's long-term plan, but he did say about Cooper: "Who wouldn't be interested in him?"

Both Cooper and Williams are managed by the same agent, Khoder Nasser, the man who also handles Anthony Mundine's affairs.

Nasser is not an NRL-accredited agent, but this is by no means a major stumbling block.

If the Roosters were to lure Williams back to the NRL, the dual international could become rugby league's first $1 million-a-season player.

Any Roosters play for Barnes would merely be a fallback option if the club was unable to persuade Cooper to come on board.

More and more Penrith players will leave at this rate seeing as we have no confirmed coach for the 2012 season. The longer it takes, the more players will leave. Earl gone, Tahu gone, Waterhouse on the brink of leaving, as is Iosefa (I guess that's a good thing).

Yet, somehow Purtell stays. Can't he just simply f*ck off?

Wade McKinnon - Hull for 3years

James Maloney - Eels/Sharks for 2013 (Asked for release but was not granted and will be with us next year. Maloney/Johnson i thought would be our future but probably unlikely tbh).

Wade was going great guns for the Tigers this season. If he does go, it will mean that the Tigs will try and keep Moltzen.

It's not the first time this rumour has been going round. With Mundine in the Bunnies corner it does seem like a feasible option. But SBW is being linked to every club every other day, while his manager has been quoted saying that the NRL isn't even an option for him as the money he gets in union is to much..

Cory Paterson >>> Cowboys (mid-season move)

Quote :
North Queensland are primed to snag unwanted Newcastle back rower Cory Paterson in a mid-season switch, should the clubs agree the move.

Paterson was one of many several Knights players told early this season he was not in the long term plans of the club, and free to look elsewhere for next year.

Although he isn’t off contract until the end of 2012, Paterson has the opportunity to play with the Cowboys for the remainder of the year and a period in excess of two years should a mid-year move be signed off by the Knights.

“We’ve got some interest in him,” Cowboys football manager Peter Parr told Sportsnewsfirst.com.au after confirming the pair had met.

“The Knights have told him he can have a look around so we’ve had a conversation with him."

With the trading window open until June 30, the Knights will now have to negotiate a payout should they choose to let Paterson go - and should he take up the offer.

“The ball is in (Newcastle’s) court,” Parr said.

“He’s got a lot of thinking to do... for us it’s about whether he is available and then it’s up to him to make a decision on whether we’d be the appropriate club.

“If he comes back with the affirmative, we will try to sort out a deal then, whether it be in the short or longer term.”

Sportsnewsfirst.com.au contacted Paterson about the possible move however the 23-year-old was reluctant to discuss his future with his main concern recovering from a knee injury for which he saw a specialist about today.

“I don’t want to talk about any of that stuff mate,” he said.

“I’m just focused on getting my knee right and getting back on the field. If I can do that than the other stuff should take care of itself.”

While the Knights battled it out with Parramatta on Saturday evening securing a gutsy two point victory, the injured back rower was spotted meeting Cowboys officials in Townsville and stayed to watch their win over the Roosters.

Despite attracting interest from a number of clubs including Melbourne and Penrith, the sheer fact Paterson was spotted spending the weekend touring the Cowboys facilities points to the severity of the potential move.

Catching the eye of coach Neil Henry, who made a play for the rangy back rower last time he was off contract, the Cowboys could see Paterson as a long term solution for aging players such as Glenn Hall and Dallas Johnson who are in their 30’s.

“He is 23,” Parr said.

“He’s a very good young player and our coach and coaching staff think he’s a very high quality player.”

Sportsnewsfirst.com.au contacted Newcastle recruitment officer Keith Onslow however he did not return our calls at time of publication.

That could be a pretty good signing for the Cowboys. He defintley has some talent, has that X factor about him for sure. Do you think he would crack the 17 Cowboys fans?

1. Bowen
2. Winterstein
3. Tate
4. Tonga
5. KFFL
6. Thompson
7. Thurston
8. Scott
9. Payne
10. Tamou
11. Cooper
12. Hall
13. Johnson

14. Bolton
15. T. Sims
16. A. Sims
17. Paterson

Not sure about the bench however, looks a tad light, but I think Bolton basically plays as a prop now anyway? So Ashton and Bolts are the props and Tariq and Paterson are the backrowers. I don't really think Segeyaro is offering too much and I think if anything, Payne should play the 80 or go off for 10-15 minutes and Thommo/Bowen/DJ takes over at hooker for that time

I don't know who he would push out of the squad to be honest.

I guess Segeyaro would probably be the most likely to drop off. I don't really see the point in signing him, he is a quality player but our second row already has plenty of depth.
