Also Coles are donating all their profits from Friday trading to the appeal as well so if people can hold off and do their shopping on Friday it will mean more money to the appeals I think Safeway are doing the same.

Thats good for them.

When you say Safeway are doing it,

Does that mean Woolworths up here are doing it.

Coz here Safeway is Woolworths.

Just an update from my area:

There was a report on ABC radio that there was an ember attack in my area, but this was just a false alarm, however this still means we should remain alert.

I've packed sentimental possesions of mine in preparation for the worst. I am confident however that we are safe, but you can never be too sure.

Don't let losers get to ya .
This is an act of Terrorism by the Arsonists/murderers . This is an example why the death penalty should be at least an option . I know it's hard to prove but what do you do if it's a Bearded Terrorist for example (which is a minute possibility) anythings possible.

Ch.9 just said that possibly they found an extra 146 bodies today?

basically its a tragedy
its left thousands of people homeless
some dead...
our firefighters deserve to be applauded for their efforts
whoever started one of the fires at least should be put away for life.
im definetly going to donate something... its the least i can do to help some of these people out

I know alot of you aren't from Victoria, so i dont know if you have heard this or not. The fires were moving so fast, and unless you have seen them, its hard to actually undersand how fast they were moving. It took the fire only 16 mins to cover the same amount of ground that would take a car an hour an a half. (or the opposite side of the city to warragal in 16mins) That is faster than anybody could run, or drive. I hope they catch the people responsible. I wish that everybody effected can get their lives back on track asap. And i begg you all to donate, if you cannot donate money, clothing or food, please please donate blood. These burns victims will be in hospital for months if not years, they need our help.

took the words right out of my mouth. absolutely. even if your blood doesnt go to a bushfire victim, it will still go to someone in need.

and you're absolutely right purple about the ferocity of the fires. not only are the fires fast, but there is also the risk of a flying ember attack. we live 20-25 minutes away from st andrews, and we're really prepared for the worst. in our area its really hilly, and fires love going uphills. theres no point in us staying, you can replace a house, but not a loved one.

I donated blood on Wednesday, i have donated blood regularly for a couple of years now and it was the most packed out i have ever seen it, was great to see, but those who were working there were a bit worried that they were running out of places to store blood.
