Weepu is still bracketed - interesting call though that Kirkpatrick will definitely start, if Weepu does start it will be at HB.

The big problem with Nonu is that he gets complacent far too easily (same problem with the likes of Tialata) and I think Cooper's thought process is to give him a kick in the pants this way. Alternatively maybe they think this is a chance to test out their alternate midfield combination against a relatively weak opposition midfield (the midfield is one of the Highlanders' biggest weaknesses).

Be interesting to see how Vito goes, he hardly set the world on fire when he played at 8 for the Lions...

Yeah - strange call for Woodcock. Maybe using him as bench-impact or resting him before a long haul?

I just read that Weepu is confirmed at Halfback for the Canes (despite being somewhat hampered by his iffy ankle...), meaning Alby is on the bench and Ripia is out - sorry Panthers! Smile

Hurricanes 22- 17 Highlanders

The hurricanes were very very lucky to get away with this two tries in the last 5 minutes.

But they probably did deserve the win.

Queensland Reds lose Charlie Fetoai for clash with Stormers

A shoulder problem for outside centre Charlie Fetoai has forced a backline reshuffle by the Queensland Reds for their Super 14 match with the Stormers in Cape Town.

Coach Phil Mooney said hard running wing Digby Ioane will switch to outside centre, with Brando Va'aulu coming off the bench as Ioane's replacement.

Rookie winger Blair Connor, who played well for the Reds in pre-season trial games, will have a chance to win his first cap off the bench as an outside back replacement.

"Charlie got a knock to his shoulder against the Bulls and he's been out of contact during the week trying to get it right. But he still hasn't got full strength so we made the call to withdraw him this morning," Mooney said.

"We've been training all week with Digby at outside centre and Brando on the wing as a precaution, so we were prepared for it.''

There's be lower scores - I guarantee it Smile

Win for the Canes - I certainly wouldn't call it "good". First half of the game was a snoozefest - I was at the game and whole crowd was virtually asleep. Second half was a total pressure cooker though - but only because both teams kept dropping the damned ball. Canes were very luck to win that, both Highlanders tries coming from monumental F*** ups by the Canes, and their try to Conrad coming from a monumental Highlanders F*** up - gotta love the rain. Highlanders forwards played the Canes off the field for the most part - Canes need to realise they have to keep chasing the ball and can't stand around watching the guy who has it.

Only saw a small amount of the Tahs/Chiefs game - looked to me that the Chiefs could've easily won that were they not playing with stumps for hands...
