FORMER St George Illawarra skipper Mark Gasnier is expected to play at No.12 for his club Stade Francais this weekend, the same spot likely to be filled by ex-Bulldog Sonny Bill Williams with Toulon.
A crowd of 12,000 is expected at the Stade Francais home ground in central Paris to witness the clash. Stade Francais coach and former Waratahs stalwart Ewen McKenzie said he has seen a new level of confidence building in Gasnier's game.
"He is a more instinctive rugby player than he was a few months ago,'' McKenzie said. "He has been troubleshooting for us in a number of positions.''
McKenzie said Williams played his best game for Toulon in their last outing. "He is influential, he is obviously a very strong ball carrier,'' McKenzie said. "He is not a guy you can take lightly.''
But McKenzie said Williams had still only played six or seven games of rugby. "In terms of his confidence about the detail, I don't know,'' McKenzie said.
While Stade Francais are running second, Toulon are third last and in serious danger of relegation from the top division.http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,25070508-5006067,00.html?
