Probably against Munster. He may even start...and the backup halfback (whomever it may be since Piri is doing a darn good job of pushing Cowan) will probably back him up

I was stoked to see Alby get the call up. Now with him heading over, it means there are 2 guys from Hastings Boys' (my old school), Hikapotamus being the other one!

And very much looking forward to them both hopefully getting a start against Munster.

could be a party near my place soon then as I just live around the corner from hastings boys.

Would be good to see them both play at the same time but that will only happen in the munster game.

I know Alby and he deserves it. Has won numerous MVP awards since he moved down to Wellington at different rugby levels and will be the goods for the All Blacks.

Yeah I think Elliot is already the number 2 hooker behind hore but I guess mealamu is there as well.

And Matthewson should be the number 3 halfback in the country edged out of number 2 because weepus ability to play half and first five gives him the bench spot full time behind cowan.

Its good to have depth though and great when all the depth is young.

Agree that Mathewsonu is third halfback in the country - though I wager Leonard will try to change that when he returns (not that I think he will make it, but he'll try).

But I think that Weepu is actually pressing Cowan for that top spot - we'll see over the next few games where Cowan should get the starts, but Weepu's performance was a real standout against the scots - probably rivalled only by Richard Kahui and Liam Messam - 2 others also pushing for top spots...

Smith is still the number 1 13 going around kanui is another good versatile bench player.

Messam I dont think is quite there yet either. what is his best position that they are still trying to work out and I Think 7 and 8 are solidly sewn up. number 6 is still up for grabs but I like Thompson there.

Kaino/messam may be fighting for the bench spot.

Leonard wasa good player when he started out but he has been pretty injury prone.

Meant to add i agree piri is pushing cowan hard but that is good for cowan who can still improve in some areas but he is still the number 1 half.

Smith is still very much my pick for centre - sure Kahui has more on his physically, but it's the top two inches which sets Smith apart.

Messam is still green, and I have been very critical of his performance (particularly his lack of control at the back of the scrum, though I've been spoilt with Rodney and Thomas Waldrom who are exceptional in that department) - but his field play (the bread and butter of a 6) was magnificent. He's a solid player in the mold of Jerry Collins. I would say his best position is 6 - he's much like Chris Masoe in that department; he CAN play 6, 7, and 8 - but he's best suited to 6. Kaino is still top, but he better keep his head up.

Thomson still plays too high and flighty for my liking; great athleticism though.

As for Leonard, I personally have never rated him; but most others do - so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that I was blinded by favourtism for Weepu until I'm proved wrong, or right as the case may be.

I think its about time Messam got the call up for All Black duteis imo, he should of been on the bench for the last couple of years instead of Chris Masoe.
