IMO the Jets will throw alot of money to buy Kurt Warner if Arizona let him go but will still have to compete with leaders for Warners signature, San Fransisco.

If Kurt Warner is out of reach, the most likely candidate will be Byron Leftwich, followed by Rex Grossman, Jeff Garcia or even a trade up in the draft for Matt Stafford. Mark Sanchezz will most likely be availible at their pick in the draft at 17th

Good news about Kurt Warner:)

i think the Jets QB will be a decent Rookie, and a possibility of Jay Cutler if he leaves Denver? (other thread).

I think the Jets have to stop looking at the older blokes and get someone permanent in there

dead set he is a great QB

pennington had a super season with miami and im sure the jets regret letting him go

Brett favre was easily past his era and with the jets going for him, they were obviously looking for a huge turnaround from 12-4 to a conference championship.

This didnt happen so 'Magina' or 'Mangenius' got sacked.

Jets need to get someone permanent and may be looking to trade up for Mark Sanchezz as they haven't done anything at QB theis offseason yet.

I dont think so, the jets have around the 19th pick in the draft, I dont think Stafford will be avialible by then and im sure the jets dont have such a player that they could trade to the Lions/Chiefs/Rams/Raiders/Bengals etc. that they will give their pick away.

If they want to draft, then Sabchezz is the may be the choice if he is availible. Although the top 3 QB's in the draft are underclassmen, they have plenty of talent and Sanchezz may be availible back at 19th pick

Rex Grossman isnt going to be signed, maybe Byron Leftwich and Jeff Garcia is too old. Kurt Warner would have been a good signing but he is gone so temporarily, the jets should go Leftwich until they can buy or draft a new talent for the future.

The reality of the Jets getting Leftwich is coming to an end as he is getting close to a new deal with the Steelers. Options are running out for the Jets as Leftwich will be taken, Garcia has been taken by the Raiders, Kurt Warner has been resigned and Jay Cutler has been taken by the Bears. Mark Sanchezz was another possibility but as the draft nears closer, Mark Sanchezz looks to be taken by more QB-needing teams that have higher picks in the draft like the 49ers, Broncos and possibly the Raiders and Bengals. The last candidate is Rex Grossman who hasn't been sought by the Jets yet. So as Free agency moves on, the Jets are taking a less-aggressive attitude towards signing a starting QB and look to be looking towards Nate Klemens, the backup QB at New York for 2009-2010.

Quarterback Byron Leftwich confirmed that he has agreed to terms with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who made another move for a veteran player to upgrade the offense under new coach Raheem Morris and new offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski. Leftwich is believed to have agreed to a two-year deal.

it looks like they arent gonna pick up any one great. Kellen Clemens, Brett Ratliff and Erik Ainge are gonna fight it out for the top job.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Mark Sanchez zipped passes all over the field with precision Saturday, looking very much like the franchise quarterback the New York Jets expect him to be.
That doesn't necessarily mean the starting job is Sanchez's to lose -- yet.
Jets coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer have praised Sanchez's work ethic and poise during rookie minicamp. But they also have been quick to point out that holdover Kellen Clemens has performed well in offseason workouts, too.
"He has the head start, and he is clearly ahead in terms of the system," Schottenheimer said of Clemens. "Not that Mark is doing badly at all -- he is doing well. But things that come natural to Kellen, Sanchez has to think about."
Clemens, who's entering his fourth NFL season, will compete with Sanchez for the starting job and appears to have his work cut out for him. The Jets traded up for the fifth overall draft pick last weekend and took Sanchez, whom they targeted early in the scouting process.
"I'm looking forward to watching these guys compete," Schottenheimer said.
Sanchez has been solid in all four rookie camp practices, particularly in Saturday afternoon's session, when he completed his first six throws in 7-on-7 drills.
"Going through the cadence everyday and saying the calls over and over again helps," Sanchez said. "It's going to be that repetition that really makes me feel comfortable."
After calling an impromptu meeting of the offensive rookies Thursday night, Sanchez met with the offensive line Friday night.

"We had extra time, and the bus wasn't leaving yet," Sanchez said, "so we just all got together instead of sitting around staring at each other and watched a little film."
Sanchez has impressed Ryan with that kind of leadership, as well as his ability to retain increased amounts of the playbook.
"I think so far, so good," Ryan said. "Once we put in two straight weeks of it, day in, day out, we'll see if it's overwhelming to him, but right now, clearly it's not."
Schottenheimer has liked Sanchez's accuracy but also is surprised by the quarterback's feet.
"He has very, very good footwork," Schottenheimer said. "He has quick feet. ... He's ahead of the game with most college quarterbacks that I have been around in terms of footwork. That clearly gives him an advantage in terms of accuracy."

Huh? why trade up to 5th pick in the draft for one of the best players in the draft and tell people that a guy that has done nothing before. Sanchezz is a future legend. If Schottenheimer is telling the truth this may be one of the worst decisions made by a team. Doubt he is telling the truth, probably trying to get Klemens hopes up or push Sanchezz harder.

i thought this was an interesting article on the QB race at the jets...

Quote :
Sanchez = 10 of 19 passes for two touchdowns and one interception.

Clemens = 4 of 12 with no scores, one interception and two other passes that could have been picked off by defenders.

Quote :
Through 11 practices, Clemens has thrown seven interceptions in 11-on-11 drills compared to Sanchez's three.

it seems that sanchez is doing really well.. i would expect him to get the nod for starting QB...
