Carter and Mehrts is better than Mauger and Carter.

Merhts would make any other countries pro team with ease.

Carter is better than Mehrts (not by much) and if I were to put him in 10, it would be Walter Little taking the No.12 Jersey.

Hmmm...Little really shone more for his partnership with Bunce than with his own light.

I agree with kiwikid though, Carter/Mauger gets it for me.

Wasnt sure if little was still around in the pro era i dont think (and i could be wrong) that he was around at the 95 world cup. Otherwise Little would be in for me he was one of my favourite players.

Lee Stensness was the worst player to ever play for the all blacks.

No stensness was worse than ralph, maybe even with hamilton.

As walter was still around then he would be my number 12.

Imo it makes more sense to have Carter at 12 with Mehrts at 10 then it does to have Spencer at 12 and Carter at 10.

Spencer would probably be my 3rd pick for FB, and 3rd pick for fly half.

Interesting squad there mate, I like some of your decisions, and happy to see Josh get the nod over Richie.

No Jonah is my biggest issue, sure Robinson was good but he had nothing on the big man. Frank Bunce was not a 12 he was 13, no way he would go in the no.12 jersey. and Colin Meads I may be wrong but I think he may of just retired by 1995, the proffesional era Laughing Laughing

hey hendo, gotta disagree with u bout jonah. he had some great times (mainly vs ENG) but jason robinson was the man, still he wouldnt make my starting 15, but heres my (NZBiased) pick for now...

1. Olo Brown (could lower the scrum by a foot puzzling the opposition)
2. Sean Fitzpatrick (best line out thrower of the modern era)
3. Carl Hayman (perfect technique)/ Richard Lowe (the enforcer)
4. Ian Jones
5. John Eales/ victor matfield
6. Jerry Collins (the enforcer)
7. Richie McCaw / Josh Kronfeld
8. Wayne Shelford (Captain Enforcer)
9. Graham Bachop/George Gregan
10. Dan Carter / Andrew Mehrtens
11. Rupeni Caucauinbuca
12. Walter Little
13. Frank Bunce
14. Jeff Wilson
15. Christian Cullen

Nice squad Mania, IMO Rupeni Caucau olny had his pace, atleast Jonah had his pace and size, Rupeni was only useful when there was a gap to run thru, Jonah wud create that gaps.

Great to see arguably the toughest man of all time Richard Loe get a mention.

yeah caucau's huge now, got a pot belly. still a talent though. was talkin to some fiji mates and they say theres a legend brewing back in fiji that caucau got his rugby prowess from a witch doctor

gotta argue with u hendo bout caucau needing a gap, i saw him at the WC03 i think fiji were playing wales and caucau was a one man try scoring machine. some of his tries he must have ran past the entire opposing team and half of his own. the guys a freak

yeah jonah could make gaps but he had to have senior members like bunce or goldie giving him directions. jonah was better in his younger days.

richard lowe. waikato university tested lowes strength and they said he was the strongest person they'd ever tested and then he told them he didnt go to a gym. plus the guy never took any sh!t.

Distinctly NZ flavour to that squad there mania... Very Happy But overall, I'd be pretty keen to put a quiet wager on that team winning more than a few games.

Only possible changes for me would be Zinny at 8, simply because of the mans audacity and Martin Johnson in to partner Eales. His force of personality alone carried England to the 03 title in my opinion.

Oh, and Olo was a tighthead too so I'd probably plug for big Os or possibly McDowell in the loosehead jersey.

Other than that, looks to be an impressive unit. Always liked the contrasting skills of Little/Bunce in the midfield and Cully would always be my 15 for any squad.

yeah 40/20, mcdowell was a grat prop. he was an olympic judo rep for NZ and the fastest AB over 10 meters until jonah turned up.

thought bout eales and johnson but figured i only need one captain. didnt want too many chiefs and not enuff indians. yeah zinny had a lot going for him but i went for buck as he was a leader of leaders and one mean sob

oh yeah now that i think about it i'd change my 9's, Graeme Bachop to start and Gregan to back up.

Its a bit late, but heres my team:

01. Os Du Rant
02. Sean Fitzpatrick
03. Carl Hayman
04. Martin Johnson
05. John Eales
06. Michael Jones
07. Richie McCaw
08. Buck Shelford
09. George Gregan
10. Carlos Spencer
11. Jonah Lomu
12. Frank Bunce
13. Cry Baby O'Driscoll
14. Tana Umanga
15. Christian Cullen

I thought Tana was a much better Winger than he was a Center. He never ever excelled in the center position to the same extent as when he "winged" it.
