BREAKING NEWS: Des Hasler will quit the Manly Sea Eagles.

In a stunning development, the 2011 premiership-winning coach will announce tomorrow he will walk away from Brookvale after next season.

It is undertsood Hasler will sign a long-term deal at Canterbury worth $750,000 a season.

A rival publication reported only this morning that Hasler would stay at Manly - their information was dead wrong.

Hasler's shift to Belmore will shock Manly fans.

He has won two premierships at Brookvale and is regarded as one of the best coaches in the NRL.

Hasler's relationship with football club and leagues club chairman Bob Reilly and rookie COO David Perry has deteriorated in recent weeks.

I believe to be regarded as a great coach you have to win premierships at multiple clubs. Hasler definetly following Wayne Bennet footsteps with that one.

Please Hasler could win in his first year with the dogs and he still wouldn't be worth comparing to Bennett. 7/7 GF wins, premierships wins at multiple clubs, most wins by a FG coach, second most games behind only Sheens, second best record in origin by a QLD coach
the only coach who even half warrants being compared to him is Gibson and even that is more based on reputation than record.

Been reading a fair bit about Carney signing with Cronulla by the end of the week with some strong behavior clauses in his contract. Not sure what to think because I was convinced he was going to Souths about a week ago.

No contract has been signed as of yet. Maguire wants a word with todd before he considers signing with the sharks, currently in dubai on a holiday but he will touchdown in aus next week.

No, not particularly, I just feed information i read or hear

I have all the time in the world for Michael Maguire and I am big fan of his coaching; The Boot Camp Training which will turn the playing group on their heads and the similarities to Melbourne he will bring to Souths in both attack and defense.

Bringing along a host of new staff with him also will do wonders for the club including rectifying a few things like recovery and hopefully reduce the injury toll; The medical staff that Madge has brought with him is A-List based on their individual resume(s); Bringing along Matthew Johns to assists the halves will also be a big benefit to the club.

Erroll Alcott formely a physio for the Australian Cricket team was a dead-set fail of an appointment by Shane Richardson; Not specialising in an Heavy contact is a fairly big barrier and ultimately that has affected the team with high injury tolls both seasons he was a part of the staff.

Having four players in the elite class and given a quality coach something will definitely give; Taylor and Lang were rubbish coaches to be fair; Taylor the better of the two but still one final series out of three is not good enough.

Madge knows three of the players well in King, Inglis and Mick Crocker and that will extend to Todd Carney if he comes; Maguire had ALOT to do with Carney during the lower-grades at Canberra and their past relationship will be a massive say in getting Todd to the club.

The Rabbitohs will boast one of the best backlines in the competition as well as one of the best forward packs; Their halves may seem to be garbage but as many find out some players gain alot of confidence playing behind such a good forward pack and having the strike power out wide; If Maguire can provide a game plan which allows expansive play and allow combinations to gel; Souths will be a massive threat next season.

If you think about this:

1. Nathan Merritt
2. Dylan Farrell
3. Greg Inglis
4. Matt King
5. Chris McQueen

Inglis is ultimately the worlds best centre; Questions of King will be asked but he is coming off a great season in the English Super League, Chris McQueen represented the PM's XIII this year and he will only become more of a danger under a good coach especially with Maguire. He is a monster who is incredibly strong and impossible to stop close to the line. Farrell no doubt the weak link of the backline; But he has completed three hat-tricks already in his early time in the NRL. and Nathan Merritt leading try scorer and one of the best support players in the game.

Sam Burgess, Roy Asotasi & Ben Lowe will add to the pack which already contains Dave Taylor, Issac Luke and Crocker with Luke Burgess & Nathan Peats pretty handy players also.

Mate if Todd Carney came; We'd go close to winning the whole thing. Everything is set up for success. Injuries will play a part in any misfortune the team has and Maguire may not live up to the hype but ultimately I am very confident he is the man to take us great places.

That's a link for the confirmed signing for Vea, but in the article it states that the Dragons have zero interest in signing Todd Carney.

Didnt Lawton sign a 1 year extension with the Titans earlier this year? At the time I read he was told to look elsewhere so maybe they did end up letting him go.

Would be great to see him back in the NRL, a shame it'll be with Souths though. You'd think it would benefit the Kiwis as he'll be exposed to much stronger competition plus he'll work along side Isaac Luke.
