A teenage Liverpool fan who threw a beach ball onto the pitch during his side's 1-0 defeat by Sunderland last week says he has been receiving death threats from his fellow supporters.

Sunderland striker Darren Bent scored the winning goal for the Black Cats after his shot deflected off the ball thrown onto the field by Callum Campbell, 16, wrongfooting Reds goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

The youngster faced death threats for his part in a defeat that dented Liverpool's bid to win the Barclays Premier League title and locked himself indoors for two days.

"It was me," Campbell told the Sunday Mirror newspaper.

"I'm the one who did it. I'm the one caught on camera. I'm so, so sorry. This is my worst, worst nightmare."

Millions around the world have seen the bizarre incident.

"When I got home I went into the garden and threw up. I was physically sick - and that's before the death threats started appearing on the internet the next day," Campbell said.

Nemanja Vidic is largely regarded as one of, if not the best defender in the league. Yesterday (not for the first time) he was torn to pieces by a not even fully fit Fernando Torres. Phil Jagielka, who doesn't recieve a fraction of the recognition that Vidic does has done an excellent job in keeping Torres quiet when we played Liverpool at least 3 of the 4 times last season.

Is Vidic only rated higher because he plays for one of the top 2 teams in the country?

Would Jagielka be recognised as the best defender in the league if he played for one of the top 4?
